Coronavirus & Real Estate

As the news and impact of COVID-19 continues to evolve, many Broker/Agents are asking for suggested best practices to follow during open houses, showings, and other in-person interactions with clients. As the busy spring market has started, We urge The Cascade Team agents around the country to stay informed, stay calm, and be supportive of fellow brokers and consumers.

The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and many local State Department of Health such as in Washington (WSDH) are currently recommending people not gather in groups of 10 or more. Additionally, in WA. Governor Jay Inslee announced restrictions through the end of March on public gatherings larger than 250 people in King, Snohomish and Pierce counties. These…

NWMLS brokers report brisk activity, noting “too early to tell” if coronavirus will soften sales

KIRKLAND, Washington (March 5, 2020) – “We’re entering prime time for the real estate market, and more listings are on the way,” stated industry veteran J. Lennox Scott, as he reviewed the latest statistical report from Northwest Multiple Listing Service. MLS figures for February show year-over-year (YOY) gains in new listings, pending sales, closed sales, and prices. Scott, the chairman and CEO of John L. Scott Real Estate, expects a bump-up in inventory during March and April, but said, “We remain virtually sold out in many areas in the more affordable and mid-price ranges.”

Northwest MLS representatives who commented on last month’s activity reported…

There are only a few ways to get off the Sammamish Plateau, and the city is about to close one of them for the rest of the year.

Sammamish Senior Project engineer Sam Park said construction got underway in August as the contractor started widening the two-lane road. It just can’t handle the 24,000 vehicles a day that use it, and this was promised to Klahanie residents when the area was annexed.

“We’re widening the road from two lanes to four lanes, and we’re improving the intersections from signalized intersections to roundabouts,” Park said. “There are going to be three roundabouts, and we’re removing a sag in the roadway by building a bridge.”

It is that bridge work that is going to cause the closure of this route that connects the…

Christmas trees are the centerpiece for many holiday celebrations and traditions. But, as consumers become more environmentally conscious, many may wonder: Which type of tree is more eco-friendly, real or fake?

After all, cutting down real trees seems to be shrinking our already depleted forests. However, fake trees are made of plastic, which doesn't seem all that green, either.

These days, a survey by CGS found that for more than two-thirds of consumers, environmental concerns drive their purchases, and they're willing to pay more for sustainable products. Younger consumers, like Gen Z, are even more environmentally aware, with nearly 70% making an eco-friendly purchase over the past year.

So which tree fits better…

It’s not Malibu, Beverly Hills, or The Hamptons, but Sammamish that tops the 2018 census list of the richest city in the United States. While many people look at the median income in Seattle topping $93,000 and feel staggered by that number  it was Sammamish, which had a median household income last year of a whopping $183,000, that ranks No. 1 among all the 630 cities for which the Census Bureau produced 2018 income data. It also marks the first time that a Washington city has come out on top for household income.

And not to be left behind, three additional eastside cities: (Redmond, Kirkland and Bellevue) also top Seattle!

The weather conditions during the summer season encourage homeowners to naturally become a bit lackadaisical with their home security. Opening doors and windows for that summer breeze and causally straying over to neighbors houses, all the while, leaving their home at risk for a break-in. Homeowners can protect summer fun, personal possessions and family members with several easy security precautions.

Summer home safety checklist:

  • Summer security: In warmer months, we tend to see a spike in property crimes. Take the time to prepare for summer security and avoid the mess of a break-in.
