It’s hard to believe that 10 years ago today I told my managing broker at John L Scott that I was leaving and going to start my own brokerage. Back then I had a different business partner named David Field, Doug Young still didn’t have a real estate license, Lori Young was my stager and believe it or not… Zillow only cost $25 per month!

The most common question I get asked these days is something like this; “Are you surprised or shocked at how much The Cascade Team has grown?”… To which I usually smile and politely say…. “No. We’re right about where I thought we would be, and within the company…

Scaredy Cats

I had just co-listed a home with my mom Micki, and we were getting ready for an open house when I met the owners’ cat. Buster was hissing, screaming, and waving his claws like crazy—so much so that I was scared and left the house.

My mom was putting signs in the front yard, and I went out and told her what was happening. She said, “Oh Heidi, if you’re going to be in this business, you can’t let a little cat scare you.” She went into the house saying she’d put Buster in his kennel. I felt a little embarrassed as I waited outside. But after another minute, I heard a scream and a door…

3D Virtual Tag Posts are spatial annotations that allow users to enhance their Spaces with text-based comments anchored to a point in the 3D geometry of a Walkthrough Virtual Tour From The Cascade Team. Unlike 2D tags which would require multiple tags of a single item across several images, once a single 3D Virtual Tag Post is placed within a Space, it is viewable from any perspective as the user moves around. Whether they’re creating a 3D virtual tour to sell a property or adding additional information about the neighborhood, The Cascade Team can now add amazing context to their virtual models.

“3D Virtual Tag Posts content vastly expands the amount of information The Cascade Team can convey about homes and properties they list. We refer to this…

A major credit reporting agency says it will soon take into account homeowner association fees. Home owners who are late on payments may soon see the effect on their credit score.

Sperlonga, a credit data aggregator, is the first company to provide HOA payment and account status data to Equifax, which is one of the three major credit-reporting agencies. A full rollout of the new HOA reporting to Equifax will go live in October.

Homeowner associations and property management companies collect about $70 billion in HOA payments yearly among at least 333,000 community associations, according to the Community Association Institute.

“Until now, HOA payments have gone largely unreported to the national credit-reporting agencies,” says Matt Martin,…

Housing inventory improves, but market still favors sellers

KIRKLAND, Washington (May 5, 2016) – Northwest Multiple Listing Service reported strong gains in the volume of new listings its members added during April (up 13.6 percent from March), but inventory remained well below the supply needed for a more balanced market. Prices showed some signs of moderating with a 5.5 percent year-over-year increase across the MLS 23-county market area. That’s the lowest YOY gain since December 2014 when it was 5.45 percent.

In its latest statistics with summaries of April activity, the MLS reported 11,407 pending sales during the month, about the same as a year…
